Antelope Fencing Project Scheduled for October 14th

FOAL will be supporting BLM’s “Highway 32 Fence Modification” project which involves replacing 15 miles of woven wire with smooth wire, 16 inches off the ground.

Estimated at approximately 8000 antelope, the “Carter Mountain Herd” typically spends summers in the Carter Mountain area northwest of Meeteetse, then migrates down into the Big Horn Basin in the winter.  Replacing the current fence wire with “wildlife friendly” smooth wire will enable them to more easily complete their migration path into the Whistle Creek area, north of Emblem, Wyoming.  This path cuts across with McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Herd Management Area.

October 14th has been tentatively set for the work day and about 20 volunteers will be needed. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the BLM Cody Field Office.
