Sanita

Sanita is a grey mare foaled on August 2, 2010 in the Red Point area of the McCullough Peaks Herd Management Area (HMA). Her dam is Cholla, a buckskin mare and her sire is thought to be Indigo, a grey stallion. She is doing quite well on the HMA as seen by the photo taken of her this fall, sporting her “dreadlocks”.

The double image photo shows Sanita when she was bitten by a rattlesnake in September 2014. You can notice one of the small puncture holes directly above the left nostril and the swelling in the area above the nostrils. Throughout this injury, Sanita continued to eat and never showed any signs of distress, other than the swelling.
