Science & Conservation Center (Billings, MT) Field Trip.
In February, board members Marshall, Mary, Cindy, Frances, and Warren enjoyed a detailed presentation on the fertility control vaccine PZP (Porcine Zona Pellucida). The SCC’s new lab tech Kayla described how pig ovaries are processed in the lab, as well as the uses and politics behind PZP.
Wyoming Public Media Radio Ads – FOAL purchased 40 prime news spots with Wyoming Public Media and used the spots to announce the Mustang Rendezvous, as well as a request that folks remember FOAL in their holiday giving.
Fourth of July Parade – FOAL proudly participated for the first time in this year’s Cody parade. The pickup truck was decorated with banners, and a large wooded frame where two beautiful mustang photos were prominently displayed. Board members had fun waving enthusiastically to the crowd, as Emily Morrison shouted “Happy 4th of July!”
Cody’s Summer Concert in the Park Series – Board members Frances, Cindy and Michaele volunteered to check ID’s at the Wyold West Brewery’s tent entrance, and used the opportunity to talk about FOAL with folks who came in for beer. The brewery then made a generous donation to FOAL.
International students took a break from their seasonal jobs working in Yellowstone Park to visit the mustangs in the McCullough Peaks HMA. Some were from as far away as Slovakia. Everyone had a great day and were able to see close to half of the wild horses.
Big Horn County Weed & Pest agreed to spray the FOAL property for cheat grass this fall at no charge. This is our second year of spraying and we hope to see results after a couple of years of spraying. In the future, spraying will probably only have to be done every two or three years.
5th Annual Mustang Rendezvous – FOAL’s fundraising event was a terrific success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our board members, donors and volunteers. The event netted $7600.00 in profits to support FOAL’s mission and goals.
