Though it’s only spring, our board members are already planning our main fundraising activity, the Mustang Rendezvous, on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Boot and Bottle Club. Come join us for dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions! FOAL’s mission is to “Keep the McCullough Peaks Mustangs Wild and Free” to inspire future generations. We do this by purchasing Porcine Zona Pellucida (PZP) which is essential for the fertility control program used by the BLM.
Friends of a Legacy also provides funding for the refurbishment of over 300 reservoirs within the HMA, so the horses will have access to water throughout the entire grazing area. Board members and volunteers also work toward the abatement of invasive species (weeds) that deplete forage and precious moisture in the HMA. During the past 10 years of our long-standing relationship with the Bureau of Land Management, FOAL has provided over $26,500 toward the PZP program and over $50,000 to reservoir projects. In the same time period, FOAL invested over $36,000 on wells in the HMA and $45,230 on the interpretive panels, sign kiosk and approach. These numbers do not reflect volunteer time, in-kind donations and mileage. In 2019 alone, FOAL board members and volunteers donated the equivalent of $22,321 to projects. None of these programs could have been accomplished without our generous donors! Thank You!
